“There’s danger lurking in those animals”
Drawing inspiration from our relationship with the natural world, the collection of works, “There’s danger lurking in those animals”, invites the viewer to enter a world threatened by zoonotic diseases and to question the impact of globalisation and the changing equilibrium of the environment.
Not all is calm on the environmental front.
The paintings invite the viewer to interpret a somewhat sinister world in which slightly playful but snarling and biting animals predominate the paintings, emphasising the power that animals hold in the eco-system. Alongside, illustrations of body organs are used to highlight the symptoms of the disease once passed onto humans. The presence of traditional medicinal plants encourage the viewer to consider the power of nature, the path that represents a more traditional and empathetic way of living and provokes the viewer to consider the urgent need to form a more balanced relationship with the natural world.
